Introduction
Name und Role:
Hello, my name is Liam Feiss. I am a student at the Business School in Baden and currently completing a 5-week internship at DIVAS Asset Management as part of my KV training.
Background
As part of my education at the Wirtschaftsschule Baden, I will earn a KV diploma. An internship is a mandatory part of this program, and DIVAS Asset Management provides me with the perfect opportunity to gain practical insight into the professional world. It’s also a great fit for me because I’ve always had a strong interest in the stock market and finance in general.
Why this internship?
Motivation und Interest
Although I don’t have prior professional experience in the finance industry, I’ve read a lot about it, and it has always fascinated me. Additionally, my father works in this sector, which has further sparked my curiosity.
Personal Goals
I want to deepen my understanding of the financial markets, improve my communication skills, and, most importantly, prepare myself for professional life.
Expectations
Professional and Personal Development
My goal is to expand my technical knowledge and develop a better understanding of how financial markets work and how to analyze them. I also want to enhance my communication and teamwork skills, as these are crucial competencies in the professional world and are often emphasized in job applications.
Networking and Mentoring I’m really looking forward to learning from the team, building connections for my future, and exchanging ideas with experienced colleagues to broaden my knowledge.
Future Career
This internship gives me my first real insight into the working world that awaits me after school. If I enjoy this experience, it could influence my decision to pursue a career in this field—maybe even in banking or perhaps something entirely different. Either way, this internship will help shape my next steps.
Impressions from the internship
First work experience
I truly have nothing to complain about—everyone in the team is incredibly friendly and helpful. Even outside of work, such as during lunch breaks, I get along very well with them. My daily tasks are varied and give me insight into many different areas of the company, which I really appreciate.
Company culture
The atmosphere in the office is great. There’s no pressure, and when someone makes a mistake, they’re encouraged rather than criticized. All my colleagues are friendly, and I get along well with everyone.
Biggest Challenge
For me, the most challenging aspect has definitely been making phone calls. It always takes some effort to start a conversation with strangers, especially when it involves large sums of money or important documents. That said, I think I handled it quite well.
Recap
I’m very glad I had the opportunity to do this internship. It gave me a great first look into the working world, which turned out to be much less intimidating than I had imagined. I can absolutely see myself working in this field in the future—it was genuinely interesting to learn so much in these five weeks. Overall, I really enjoyed my internship at DIVAS Asset Management and I’m grateful for the experience.
